Stockton Pet Hospital has a legacy of offering compassionate and comprehensive veterinary care to our family of clients. Our hospital has a proud history of 50 years of outstanding service to our community. We are looking for a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support our growing small animal practice in Lakewood CO. You will be responsible for assisting the veterinary staff in examining and monitoring patients, performing administrative tasks, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the clinic and kennels. Weekend work is required. Our ideal candidate is willing to learn new skills and advance their career. You must have a passion for caring for animals and excellent customer service skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams and surgical procedures
- Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing
- Running diagnostic samples using our in-house diagnostic equipment
- Assisting with taking radiographs
- Restraining animals for blood draws and IV catheter placement.
- Care for animals by bathing, feeding, watering, and exercising
- Ensure the clinic is clean, organized, and sanitized every day
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and tools
- Ensure exam and operating rooms are stocked and sterilized
- Ensure all cages and kennels are clean
- Administer medications
- Communicate with owners and families on surgery and recovery instructions
- Perform administrative duties such as updating files and processing payments
Experience Required:
- 1 year of experience in animal care or clinic environment
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Attention to detail
- Physical ability to restrain pets when necessary
- Able to work weekends, extended hours, and holidays
